He added: “I’ve just tried to be as present as I can be today and just be enjoying every moment from arriving to seeing the engineers and just really like taking moments and capturing them as much as I can.
“Then to getting ready and getting in the car… I’ve really enjoyed the day. I’ve really enjoyed driving the car today, working with the guys in the garage and the engineers.
“We’ve got some work to do. The is still so fast, as is . We’re in the mix, kind of, but we’ve got to find some time.”

Lewis Hamilton says sorry to Mercedes team

That’s according to journalist Julianne Cerasoli, who told : ” did a special thing with him this Thursday. He wasn’t expecting that, it was a surprise thing.
“They took him to the paddock club and he was not really willing to go to the paddock club, saying: ‘Oh, I’ve never been to the paddock club in 12 years with this time. How come I’m going now? What are you doing?’ and really not wanting to go.
“When he arrived there, the whole team were all there waiting for him and they played a very special video that had images since his karting days.
“Seeing that video was very touching and it was very emotional for the whole team and everybody was watching with him.
“He said: ‘Oh, I’m so sorry that I didn’t want to come to this thing because I’m really grateful’. And it was an emotional moment for the team.”
