Charlene White was on the show
Charlene White was left stunned as James Martin quizzed her about her new book, No Place Like Home, on the latest episode of James Martin’s Saturday Morning.
During the instalment, Loose Women star Charlene, 44, was on the show as she chatted away to host James, 52, as he cooked some delicious items in the kitchen.
However, Charlene was quick to scold the famous chef when he quizzed her on sticking to deadlines amid her new book release. James said: “You’re used to so many deadlines in journalism, a little bird told me because I know the publishers quite well, that you struggle with the deadlines?”
To which a stunned Charlene admitted: “I can’t believe you’ve brought that up!”, she added: “Erm… I missed three deadlines, yes, they said: ‘Can you tell Charlene we need the book in ten days or we’re cancelling the contract!'”

With James joking: “It’s amazing how that suddenly works, isn’t it?” to which Charlene admitted: “Yeah, it’s amazing that when you say you’re going to do something, people expect you to produce it!” Charlene admitted that due to her “journalism brain” she needs a hard deadline and learning she had just ten days to write helped get her motivated.
It comes as Charlene took to ahead of her TV appearance on Saturday, sharing a collection of behind-the-scenes snaps. She penned: “Kicking off Christmas with @jamesmartinchef tomorrow morning from 9.30am on @itv!
“Much fun was had with the utterly brilliant @chef_chantelle @lennybugleinntwyford and @stephenterrychef. Plus platefuls of gorgeous food to ease us into the festive season, a spoonful of bants, and a dollop of chat about my book No Place Like Home… the perfect for a Saturday morning. Join us! Dress is @oliviarubin.”
Loose Women’s Charlene is known for her candidness on the show, and she’s now delved even deeper into her life in her eye-opening new memoir. The journalist has penned No Place Like Home, where the journalist reflects on the concept of home. London-born Charlene, whose heritage lies in Jamaica, talked about how she finds a sense of belonging in both places.
“I was raised in a Jamaican household in London. So, although I’ve never lived in Jamaica, I’ve been going back and forth my entire life, so that also feels like home to me. There’s space in my heart for both.”
In No Place Like Home, Charlene shares her own story and understanding of home as a Jamaican Londoner exploring all the smells, memories and voices from her childhood.
James Martin’s Saturday Kitchen airs on Saturday mornings on ITV and ITV X.
