Vancouver police release photos of suspect in teen assault case

A teenage girl was assaulted this summer after getting off the bus with her friend at Pacific Centre, near Granville and Georgia Street.

Vancouver Police have released images of a suspect in an assault against a 16-year-old girl this summer.

Anyone who recognizes the man in the photos is asked to call police.

“This case remains unsolved because we have not yet been able to identify the suspect,” said VPD spokesperson Const. Tania Visintin in a statement.

The teen and a friend boarded the 250-line bus at Park Royal, in West Vancouver, around 5:45 p.m. on Aug. 25, according to police.

Visintin said the friends told police they saw man they believe was staring at them, and commented aloud to each other about the man’s behaviour.

When the teens got off the bus at Pacific Centre, near Granville and Georgia Street, the man allegedly followed them and assaulted one of the girls, she said.

A witness intervened to stop the assault, however the man walked away before police could respond.

The suspect is described by police as Caucasian, believed to be in his 40s or 50s, and about six-feet tall. He wears glasses and has receding hair. He was wearing on orange B.C. Lions golf shirt, cream-coloured pants, and blue and white Adidas shoes.
