Here’s the ultimate sign that it’s time to step up your audio game: The latest Apple AirPods 4 are currently the lowest price ever on Amazon. Originally released in September, this is the lowest price we’ve seen so far. Take your favorite playlists and podcasts with you on the go and enjoy up to five hours of playtime on a single charge (one hour less than the AirPods 2). While the AirPods 4 are available with and without active noise cancelation, this sale is surprisingly on the ANC set. These normally retail for $179, but right now, they’re 22% off, knocking them down to $138.99. That’s a massive discount for a new Apple product, so don’t slack on this deal!
The newest AirPods model features the most up-to-date H2 processing chip and has been redesigned to better fit in ears compared to previous models. This pair on sale features active noise cancelation, meaning they also include a transparency mode and adaptive audio, and a conversation awareness feature. Consumer Reports gave the ANC version a score of 69, for reference. They’re dust-, water- and sweat-resistant.
You might assume that the ANC version is extremely similar to the second-generation Pros, but the ANC is where most similarities end. One of the interesting upgrades to the 4s is a slight change to the earbud shape — like other standard AirPods, they don’t have the Pros’ silicone tips, but they are slimmer and angled differently than the 3s. So if the 3s don’t fit you or keep falling out, but you also don’t like the “stuffed” feeling of wearing tips, you may want to try these.
That said, we’d be remiss not to mention the 4s’ slightly shorter battery life: up to five hours on a single charge rather than six for both models, with the same 30-hour life for the USB-C MagSafe charging case. But considering how the 4s’ features are like a mix between the 3s and the Pros, and the relative affordability, you may decide the lost hour is worth it.

“[…] These Airpods 4 with Active Noise Cancellation are exactly as I expected them to be. They fit extremely well, the ANC is very acceptable for what they are, and they sound amazing. That’s not to mention the TINY case that they come in, making them so easy to slip anywhere. I have been looking for a solid pair of earbuds with ANC that work with my ears for the longest time now. I’m happy to say that these are everything I’ve ever wanted. If you have had issues with silicone ear-tip earbuds fitting you properly, then these are definitely worth a shot!” — Dylan Manzanares (This review has been edited for length. Read the full review.)
“It is easy to carry and use the Airpods 4, they are very small. It’s also very comfortable to wear them, I can listen to them for 2 hours without any effort. The noise cancelling is sufficient for daily use. I have used it in car, gym and McDonalds and it can lower most noise in mid frequency, especially people talking. The sound quality is just listenable, I have listened to many professional headphones and Airpods 4 clearly can’t compete with them. Airpods 4 has good mid-frequency response, the vocal in songs are clear, but the bass is distorted and comes from heavy EQ done by the algorithms. The resolution is ambiguous, background musical instruments are hard to distinguish. The soundstage is good though, I can feel the sound coming from the room instead of from my head. Thanks to adaptive EQ, every song is processed by algorithms before I listen, sometimes it’s a good thing and sometimes it’s bad. In general, I’m satisfied with Airpods 4. I take it everywhere I go for it’s small size and comfortable wearing. As for sound quality, it’s still the best Airpods I have listened. If you want more, buy a professional headphone.” — Shi
“After upgrading from the 2nd generation, I am quite happy with these Airpods 4. I was nervous about the fit since the 2nd generation is noticeably smaller than the 4s but the fit is perfectly fine. I do wear some third party ear hooks when I’m out and about in these as a precaution but they feel quite secure without them. I was scared they would feel heavy after I am used to both Airpods 2nd gen and wired small earpods but they’re so light weight and incredibly comfortable. Even though I was content with the older Airpods sound quality these just sound so much more punchy and it’s a great experience at a decent price. I was also impressed with the ANC. I like the ANC version because it allows me to charge my case with my watch charger if I don’t have an available USB C cable, and the Find My where it plays a sound helps.” — Sand
“I lost count of how many Bluetooth ear buds I have tried, and I have been putting off going with the Apple because of cost……but I finally gave in and bought the apple air buds 4 noise cancelling units. WOW, am I pleased with these! They are not only the most comfortable ones I have ever worn but the noise cancelling is surprising considering that they are not a sealed type of ear bud. I have a set of noise cancelling headphones and they are fantastic but of course they are bulky and don’t easily go into your pocket. These are the ones to get. You won’t be sorry. Charging is easy and flexible. Check the Apple website for what you need to charge. The small charging case works very well but you do have to eventually charge the case which has a built-in battery. Did I mention that they sound quite decent and you can answer your phone by just nodding your head.” — Scott Sr
“None have ever fit so well, they stay in my ears when all others would fall out, including my Gen2s(!), or sounded this incredible. The noise cancelling is superb. As a person with hearing issues and mental triggers with sound/noise overload in a crowded room, the Adaptive mode works wonders for conversing with someone right next to you while bringing the room noise to a very tolerable level. Then there’s the sound quality and clarity, in a word, Wow! I’ve held on to my Gen2 AiPods, until now. Nothing I’ve tried anywhere, is better than these with the Noise Cancellation. I’ve had similar experience in Quality/Depth of sound but there was either too Much cancelling or not enough clarity and depth of sound range. This brings the best of both in one package. Not too much cancelling and at least giving options, along with a great sound-field presence, especially in full range audio of Dolby-Digital movie audio tracks, other hi-res sound sources, all while not Being hi-res certified (that I’m aware of) Hope you all found this review helpful! Thanks for reading!” — Ivan
