Netflix’s Black Doves ending – Jason’s killer and Reed’s surprise guest
In the season’s final episode, Helen and Sam face off against formidable matriarch Alex Clark (Tracey Ullman), who denies any knowledge of the assassination.
So, who was responsible for Jason’s demise?
During the tense showdown, it emerges that Alex’s son Trent (Angus Cooper) orchestrated the murders of Jason, MI5 informant Maggie (Hannah Khalique-Brown), and tabloid reporter Phillip (Thomas Coombes) to cover up his accidental killing of a Chinese diplomat.
Unbeknownst to Trent, the death of Kai-Ming’s (Isabella Wei) father was recorded as Maggie had secretly installed surveillance in the flat, selling secrets to the press and providing the most confidential information to British intelligence.
Government official Stephen Yarrick (Sam Troughton) was enlisted, implicating the prime minister in a phone call captured on a hidden camera.
Reed has a surprise guest over for Christmas
Trent, tormented by guilt over years of jeopardising his family’s reputation with his behaviour, orchestrated the triple hit without his mother’s knowledge, sparking a furious reaction from Helen.
As turmoil begins to brew outside with both UK and Chinese agents converging on the warehouse, a frantic Alex attempts to disarm Helen but is shot in the head, and she promptly puts Trent out of his misery.
Later, when calm has been restored, Helen meets with Reed to piece together the puzzle, including the revelation that Jason was actually an MI5 agent assigned to spy on her to determine if she had been leaking government secrets.
Despite being aware of her secret agent status, Jason’s report completely clears her, convincing Helen that their love was genuine.
Trent Clark was behind the mysterious murders
The series concludes with a festive montage as the characters celebrate Christmas with their families and Sam receives an unexpected visitor – Hector Newman (Luther Ford).
Reed also gets a surprise seasonal guest when it’s revealed that Helen’s babysitter was at her flat, seemingly a new Black Dove in training.
Considering they’re spending Christmas Day together, it’s plausible that the duo share some familial ties, or she could simply be a fresh recruit assigned to monitor Helen following her triumph over her designated successor Dani (Agnes O’Casey).
Fortunately, her identity won’t remain concealed for long as Black Doves has already secured a second season, promising more exhilarating plot twists and espionage drama.
