Amazon Prime’s The Sticky cast – from Netflix hits to The Office and Hollywood stars

Prime Video’s latest offering, the dark comedy The Sticky, boasts a stellar ensemble of established stars and rising talents.

Drawing inspiration from the bizarre real-life Great Canadian Maple Syrup Heist, this six-part series centres on maple syrup farmer Ruth Landry (played by Margo Martindale) who takes drastic action when her livelihood is endangered.

Reluctantly, she allies with infamous local criminal Mike Byrne (Chris Diamantopoulos) to orchestrate a daring heist, stealing millions in maple syrup as an act of retribution. However, she soon learns the steep price of a life in crime.

Margo Martindale as Ruth Landry

Veteran character actress Margo Martindale steps into the spotlight as Ruth Landry, a departure from her usual supporting roles that have left lasting impressions.

Since her acting debut in the 1990 film Days of Thunder, she has featured in numerous Hollywood blockbusters such as Million Dollar Baby, August: Osage County, and Cars 3. Her television credits include Suits, New Girl, The Good Wife, and The Watcher.

She’s also recognised for lending her voice to a character based on herself in Netflix’s acclaimed animated series Bojack Horseman. Most recently, she appeared in the Disney+ series Doctor Odyssey and the comedic horror film Cocaine Bear.

In the coming year, Martindale is slated to lend her voice to Mrs Twit, alongside Johnny Vegas in Netflix’s animated comedy adaptation of Roald Dahl’s The Twits. The star-studded cast also includes Natalie Portman and Emilia Clarke.

Canadian actor Chris Diamantopoulos portrays Ruth’s accomplice Mike, the mastermind behind the heist.

The accomplished TV actor boasts a resume filled with major comedies such as Arrested Development, Silicon Valley, and even The Office where he played boom mic operator Brian who harbours feelings for Pam (Jenna Fischer).

Diamantopoulos’ other roles include Matthew Fox in Bojack Horseman, and recent appearances in Daisy Jones and the Six, the Diary of a Wimpy Kid films, and The Boys in the Boat.

Since 2013, he has been one of the voices behind Disney’s beloved mascot Mickey Mouse.

Guillaume Cyr as Remy

Quebecois actor Guillaume Cyr, although less well-known, assumes a significant role as Remy in The Sticky, aiding Ruth and Mike in executing the heist from within.

Cyr’s past work includes French-Canadian films The New Life of Paul Sneijder, The Time Thief, and Family Game.

Supporting Cast

The supporting cast comprises several other Canadian actors, including Gita Miller as Teddy Green, who is recognised for her role alongside Felicity Jones in the biopic On the Basis of Sex. French-Canadian actor Guy Nadon plays Leonard Sr, known for his roles in One Summer and Crisis.

Comedy writer and actor Mickael Gouin, renowned for his work on SNL Quebec, takes on the role of Leo Gauthier, while Suzanne Clement, celebrated for her collaborations with Canadian filmmaker Xavier Dolan in films such as Mommy, I Killed My Mother and Laurence Anyways, portrays Detective Valerie Nadeau.

Mark O’Brien, known for Halt and Catch Fire, plays Charlie, and Meegwun Fairbrother, from Burden of Truth, assumes the role of Gary Montour.

Jamie Lee Curtis as Bo

Hollywood luminary and executive producer of the show, Jamie Lee Curtis, appears in a cryptic role, making a fleeting appearance in the trailer. She seems to be playing a hitman named Bo who becomes entangled in the heist and shares a history with the scheme’s architect, Mike.

Having kick-started her acting career with Halloween, she has since become a cherished film star with roles in movies like Freaky Friday, True Lies and Knives Out. Curtis clinched her first Academy Award last year for Everything Everywhere All At Once and bagged an Emmy Award for her guest role in The Bear.
