“Sally”, in The Nightmare Before Christmas
As the festive season rolls in, many are curling up with a classic film.
Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas remains an enduring favourite since its 1993 debut. The animated masterpiece weaves the story of Jack Skellington from Halloween Town, who stumbles upon and becomes enchanted by Christmas Town.
Intent on making the Yuletide his own, Jack hatches a scheme to put his unique stamp on the holiday, yet Sally, a creation of the eccentric Doctor Finkelstein, foresees trouble. Despite her premonition and her hidden love for Jack, she joins his ill-fated adventure.
While Sally has been a staple in our festive film marathons, it appears that the voice behind this beloved character is a mystery to many. user Clare Loughran, known as clary_poppins, dropped a bombshell revelation in a video.
She announced: “Fun fact – this humanoid rag doll was voiced by this humanoid matriarch.”
Catherine O’Hara: icon, legend, princess.
The clip transitions from Sally’s image to one of Catherine O’Hara from Home Alone, unveiling a surprising Christmas connection. Indeed, the same actress who portrayed Kevin McCallister’s mother lent her voice to Sally – merging two holiday classics in an unexpected twist.
This trivia has sent shockwaves across the internet. One social media user wrote: “No way. The star of Crows 3 voices her?”
Another added: “I always thought she was voiced by Helena Bonham Carter.” A third simply replied: “I needed to know this.”
Meanwhile, one more said: “Wait, what? It’s literally my favourite, and I didn’t even know. I’m ashamed.”
Best known for iconic roles in Schitt’s Creek, Beetlejuice and Penelope, the actress is also lauded for her comedic brilliance.
