Tyson Fury ahead of his rematch with Oleksandr Usyk
Tyson Fury has made a fierce vow to “f***’ up” Oleksandr Usyk in their imminent heavyweight rematch in Saudi Arabia, scheduled for later this month. The boxing titans first faced off in what was billed as one of the century’s most awaited bouts, resulting in Usyk sealing a historic victory and claiming the undisputed heavyweight championship since 1999 through a split decision over ‘The Gypsy King’ this past May.
Early in the fight, the Ukrainian managed to gain the upper hand, especially during the initial rounds. Yet, by the fourth round, Fury had begun to find his footing, putting pressure on Usyk.
A critical moment arose in the ninth round when Usyk came dangerously close to finishing Fury, who subsequently appeared visibly shaken as he returned to his corner. Following that, Usyk continued to dominate, emerging victorious on the judges’ scorecards.
Now, seven months after their epic showdown, both fighters are set to face off again with Fury determined to even the score.
In a confrontational ‘FACE OFF’ segment on DAZN’s YouTube channel, when queried about his pivotal left hand in the ninth round of their prior match, Usyk remarked: “It was perfect. Tyson was keeping good.”
However, before Usyk could elaborate further, Fury interjected assertively, retorting: “But, you had your little chance to knock me out didn’t you? And you couldn’t do it, b****, could ya? “.
Fury unleashed a verbal tirade, stating: “Hit me with ten shots in a row and you couldn’t do it. You couldn’t even put me down after being on Bambi legs. You hit me ten shots, ten clean shots on the chin… no canvas touch. You’re f***** in the rematch. Like Tupac said, you hit me with your best shots and couldn’t do f*** all. You know what’s coming for you. I’m going to f*** you up, b****.”
Fury’s promoter, Frank Warren, was asked about the significance of the upcoming fight between Fury and Usyk in terms of their legacies. Warren replied: “What you read afterwards, people were saying that whoever won the fight was going to be the best heavyweight in the 21st century. the first unified champion, and they go up there with all the greats of the past. And I’m glad they said that because, at the moment, Oleksandr got the result, he won the split decision. If Tyson wins it, then that’s where that mantel goes, that he is the best of his generation.”
However, Fury disagreed with Warren’s assessment, saying: “No Frank! There will be a rematch, a rubber match, trilogy. There’s got to be! If he wins one and I win one, I can’t say that I’m better and he can’t say that he’s better. There has to be a third one.”
