It turns out getting towels soft and fluffy is simple if you use the right products
Towels can be tricky to wash; if they are not done properly, they can lose their softness and become scratchy to the touch.
The biggest mistake people make with towels is using too much detergent and fabric softener. The residue can build up in the fabric, making towels feel rough.
However, Kelly, a expert who goes by online, has shared that towels can be easily restored to feel fluffy again using two simple natural products.
Kelly said: “Here’s my top tip to keep your towels soft and fluffy. It’s time to ditch the laundry detergent and the softener and make a switch to soda crystals and tea tree oil.”
This simple but incredibly effective trick works because soda crystals are very alkaline, which means they can break down any residues clinging to the towel fibres.

Soda crystals can break down soap and other residues that make towels feel stiff
Tea tree oil is antibacterial, so it can sanitise towels, remove trapped moisture buildup in the fibres to help make them soft, and remove any musty smells.
Both soda crystals and tea tree oil are much gentler on towels than most commercial laundry products. They also naturally disinfect and soften them.
Using these items is not only more eco-friendly but also cost-effective, as you only need a small amount of both to restore towels and make them feel brand new again.
Kelly said, “Soda crystals will strip off any residue buildup on your towels. It’s a natural oxi stain remover, which is great for keeping your white towels white.
“Always remember NO FABRIC SOFTENER…instead, make a switch to tea tree oil”
Make sure to shake towels before hanging them up to dry to help make them fluffy
How to restore towels naturally and make them soft again
All you need to do is add one scoop of soda crystals to the detergent drawer of your washing machine. Then, add a few drops of tea tree oil to the fabric softener compartment of the detergent drawer.
Place towels in the washing machine, but do not wash too many at once. Overloading prevents towels from being rinsed thoroughly and can also cause them to become stiff.
Wash the towels at 60C and shake them thoroughly before hanging them up to dry, as it helps loosen fibres and restore fluffiness.
Once your towels have dried, they will be restored to their original state, so you can enjoy comfortable towels that do not feel hard or rough when used.
