All the social media platforms were buzzing on Wednesday after President-elect Donald Trump announced he was nominating Peter Navarro as his top trade adviser in his administration.
Of course, that’s bound to happen when you appoint someone who was released from prison just five months ago after serving a sentence for contempt of Congress charges stemming from his role in attempting to overturn the results of the 2020 election.
Navarro was convicted after openly defying a subpoena to testify before a House committee investigating the Jan. 6 Capitol riots.
While working for Trump, Navarro helped orchestrate a scheme Trump allies called the “Green Bay Sweep” that was designed to block President Joe Biden’s 2020 election victory with the help of congressional Republicans.
People on social media weren’t surprised to see Trump nominate another election-denying loyalist with legal and ethical baggage and questionable qualifications for the job.
