The holiday season is not just a month of shopping and eating. It’s also a time of family gatherings and social commitments that require a lot of running around and time on our feet in shoes that are a step up from typical trainers. Finding nice dress shoes that are also comfortable enough to spend hours on your feet is strangely difficult. Many brands out there focus on fashion over function, or vice versa. It’s also not uncommon to put on a pair of shoes that seem fine at first and then dread sinks in upon realizing you can’t really walk around or stand in them for extended periods of time. Well, folks, I’m ecstatic to share that I found a brand that successfully achieves that balance we’re all seeking.
I have spent years building a shoe collection that would make Carrie Bradshaw proud. (What can I say? I like options.) But there’s always been good portion of pairs that I only bust out when I really need to because they’re just not very good for my feet. Now I’m considering officially retiring all of those dress shoes in favor of my finds from the Chicago-based brand footwear brand Marc Nolan.
I was first introduced to the brand a few years back and now it’s the first place I look whenever I need something new for a special occasion. I wore one of their elevated sneaker options to my rehearsal dinner. This woven pair was a staple on my honeymoon. I fell fast and hard for their funky twists on traditional styles. Sometimes it’s a bold color that draws me in. Other pairs play with texture combinations that are refreshing and different without looking outlandish. Best of all? Every option is padded with a latex memory foam insole that make them easy on your feet.
From Thanksgiving through New Year’s, I’m here to help you have a more fashionable and comfortable holiday season. I rounded up some of my favorite styles from all of Marc Nolan’s men’s categories for your consideration below. (The brand also expanded into women’s shoes early in 2024.)
