The jungle has waved goodbye to another of its stars as Melvin Odoom became the latest celebrity to exit on Tuesday night’s nail-biting episode.

In a close call that had viewers glued to their screens, the final vote was between Melvin and Maura Higgins until it was publicly announced that 44 year old Melvin’s adventure had come to an end.

Following the announcement, he assured his fellow campmates “it’s good” and declared it time to “celebrate” before embracing them all in farewell. He leaves hot on the heels of Tulisa, who departed the day prior, and succeeds Dean McCullough and Jane Moore, reports the

Gathering his gear, Melvin then made his way to presenters and , who couldn’t help but comment on his ‘jungle-fresh’ aroma after two weeks away from modern conveniences.

Despite bowing out, Melvin maintained a positive outlook telling the Geordie pair: “I was ready to go. The best thing about that camp is the people, I loved every single person in there.”

He fondly referred to Oti Mabuse as his “sister” in the camp and openly lauded their profound connection in a touching remark. Discussing his close relationship with the former star, Melvin said: “Oti reminds me of my sister who I am really close to. As you guys, know she’s super positive and super funny at all times which you need in camp.”

However, it wasn’t all smooth sailing, as Melvin later admitted he found adapting to camp life “difficult”, but acknowledged that he had learnt from the experience, realising he had “quite a caring nature.”

This caring nature also extended to refusing to speak negatively about his fellow campmates, including controversial character Dean McCullough, who raised eyebrows with his work ethic in the jungle.

“Dean’s my boy, I don’t want to throw him to the wolves,” Melvin diplomatically stated, despite having previously labelled the star “Houdini” for frequently disappearing when chores needed doing. After his exit, fans were devastated to see such a grounded star leave, with many expressing their feelings on social media.

Meanwhile, a third remarked: “Ohhh didnt expect melvin to go surprised maura in bottom 2 though.”

Echoing the sentiment, another fan lamented: “Sad Melvin has gone though. Genuinely such a nice guy #imaceleb.”
