Footage from the scene outside the Hilton hotel at intersection of West 54th Street and Sixth Ave.
Video footage from outside the hotel where UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson was fatally shot Wednesday morning in a Midtown Manhattan hotel shows the alleged gunman at the scene of the crime.
The gunman is described by police as a light skin skinny male standing about 6-foot-1 wearing a ski mask and light brown or cream hoodie, black and white sneakers while carrying a distinct gray backpack.
Investigators suspect that the shooter is not a professional as the gun appeared to malfunction and jam before firing the fatal shots, according to authorities.

The shooting, which was reported around 6:40 a.m., appears to be targeted, though the investigation is ongoing.
“This was not a random act of violence,” New York City Mayor Eric Adams said. “It appears as though it is a targeted murder.”
Thompson was in New York City to attend the UnitedHealthcare investors conference and his schedule was widely known, police said.
The conference was held at the Hilton, though Thompson was not a guest at the hotel at the intersection of West 54th Street and Sixth Avenue.
Police said the gunman appeared to arrive hours before 8 a.m. when the event began.

Police recovered three live 9 mm rounds and three discharged 9 mm shell casings at the scene.
