Billionaire Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones ‘not flying to London to buy Prem club’

Speculation that Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is planning to buy has been put to bed. had suggested that the US billionaire was considering a deal to buy the club, which is valued at £3.75billion.

However, according to rumours that Jones is flying to London to strike a deal to buy or invest in this week are wide of the mark.

are on the lookout for fresh investment though. Earlier this year, chairman Daniel Levy said in the financial results for the year ending 30 June 2023 that new funds were needed to unlock the club “long-term potential”.

He said: “To capitalise on our long-term potential, to continue to invest in the teams and undertake future capital projects, the Club requires a significant increase in its equity base. The Board and its advisors, [investment bank] Rothschild and Co, are in discussions with prospective investors. Any recommended investment proposal would require the support of the Club’s shareholders.”

In September, speaking to Bloomberg, Levy said he felt obligated to “consider anything anyone may want to propose”. It was suggested that the discussions centred around selling a minority stake rather than a complete takeover and had Levy had no intention of leaving the club.

Spurs are owned by investment company ENIC, who have long been accused by fans of lacking ambition. Off the pitch, Spurs have been a great success since moving to their current stadium in 2019.

Matchday revenue has trebled while sponsorship, merchandise sales and events brought in £228million in the last financial year. As a result, Spurs’ financial worth has rocketed, with Levy valuing the club at approaching £4bn.
