presenter Clive Myrie has issued an apology after he of external events away from his job.
The journalist earned the eye-watering sum for speaking and hosting engagements, but failed to log them on the corporation’s external events register.
After a newspaper alerted the to his error, Myrie added 28 retrospective entries to the register. It is understood he charged up to £10,000 per event, and received more than that on five separate occasions.
Clients included American Express, the National Residential Landlords Association and the Football Association. The said it has taken “robust management action” against the MasterMind presenter but did not give details.
He has now issued an apology to fans online for his mistake and insist he won’t be taking on further external events “for the foreseeable future.”

Taking to X – formerly known as Twitter – he wrote: “An apology – I’ve had several administrative issues, and I didn’t fill out the correct paperwork for some of my external public events, so they haven’t been published until now.
“I’ve told the I won’t be taking part in any more paid external events in the foreseeable future, beyond a handful of pre-existing commitments, so that this doesn’t happen again. My sincere apologies.”
It didn’t take long before fans flooded to the comments to share their support online. One user penned: “We all make mistakes Clive. You’re a joy to watch and your books are all thrilling reads. Keep doing what you’re doing.”
Another agreed: “Ignore the obvious bots that are just being negative for the sake of it. Everyone makes mistakes, it’s called being human and being busy. You’ve held your hand up and apologised, that’s all that’s needed. Move on and carry on being you and the pleasure to watch that you are.”
Earlier this year, The Sunday Times claimed Myrie failed to declare his work as a debate chairman at GreenTalks Live, an event hosted by the Isle of Man’s Energy and Sustainability Centre, and as a keynote speaker at Ditch bank ING’s Views From the Top dinner at The Gherkin in London.

Both events are reported to have commanded fees of more than £10,000. The publication also claimed the TV presenter also failed to report nine other engagements including work as a guest speaker at Suffold Chamber of Commerce’s Presige Dinner, a host at the National Residential Landlords Association’s conference, and as a host of an Intermediary Lenders Association lunch.
The other roles are said to be worth between £5,000 and £10,000 to Myrie. At the time, a spokesperson said Myrie had apologised and that they’s spoken to him to “remind him of his responsibilities.”
A statement read: “We have spoken to Clive to remind him of his responsibilities with regards to the external events register, and he has apologised for these errors.”
The presenter is reportedly earning a salary between £310,000 and £314,999 at the , according to its most recent annual report published in March 2024.
