Dustin Johnson’s 4Aces GC team has poached a familiar face from Bubba Watson’s RangeGoats. With the new 2025 LIV Golf season approaching, Thomas Pieters joins forces with the former world No.1 adding significant firepower to an already star-studded lineup.

Unveiled on Monday as the latest addition, the Belgian golfer and Ryder Cup veteran is set to make his debut when the season commences on February 6.

The switch has certainly caught the attention of Rory McIlroy, who publicly declared Pieters as his chosen teammate following their successful partnership at the 2016 Ryder Cup. Despite Europe’s defeat, Pieters emerged with an impressive individual score of 4-1.

“I’m not letting anyone else have him,” insisted McIlroy back then, while Pieters, referring to McIlroy’s praise, humbly responded, “That’s fine with me. It’s Rory McIlroy, you know. He’s the best player in the world. When he says, ‘I want you on my team for the next 20 years,’ I just say, ‘Okay.'” The bond between the two was undeniable, but now it’s Johnson’s turn to reap the benefits of Pieters’ skill as they prepare to take on the competition together.

After suffering initial losses, McIlroy and Pieters teamed up to secure three victories, including two against Johnson. The American golfer clearly remembered their impact, as he has now secured Pieters for his team.

“Happy to have Thomas on the team,” Johnson expressed about his latest recruit, who is anticipated to be the first of many off-season moves. “He’s a great addition, great player and makes the team stronger. Really excited for next season.”

On the other hand, Pieters shared his enthusiasm about the switch: “I’m super-excited about playing for DJ, and I look forward to push him as hard as I can.”

Pieters joins Patrick Reed, Harold Varner III and Pat Perez in the 4Aces line-up.

However, it’s speculated that Perez may depart when his contract ends in January, reducing the team back to four players. Pieters, a former Team Europe contender who missed out on the 2021 Ryder Cup selection, joined LIV last year and finished 33rd before climbing to 30th this past season.

Both he and Johnson will be aiming for an improved position after 4Aces dropped to 10th in the team standings this year.
