Malofeyev said we are ‘on the brink of nuclear war’
The President-elect has vowed to end the war in quickly, but has not yet specified how he will do so.
The Putin ally warned that a peace deal could only be achieved if the US addresses the “future of Europe and the world” and also deals with tensions in the Middle East and Asia.
Mr Maofeyev added: “We want a long-term peace — some sort of general agreement about the global order. Trump wants to go down in history, he’ll be 80 soon, he’s a grandfather.
“Putin’s not 50 anymore either. It’ll be the legacy they both leave us.”
Mr Malofeyev, 50, has been sanctioned by the US since 2014 for “threatening and providing financial support to the Donetsk separatist region.”
