Strictly Come Dancing fans have hit out after the ‘Strictly curse’ claimed another couple in the hit dance competition.
and Johannes Radebe took to the Strictly It Takes Two sofa to talk to Fleur East after the pair became the latest couple to be booted off the series, missing out on the semi-final this weekend.
The pair danced a rumba, scoring a 32 – significantly higher than Pete and Jowita’s 26 – but they still fell into the bottom two for the second week running and were forced to dance off against and Aljaz Skorjanec.
Unfortunately for Montell and Johannes, the judges chose to save Tasha, sending Montell home.

But fans said their elimination was inevitable thanks to a long-running Strictly ‘curse’ surrounding the rumba.

“Montell and Johannes were one of the purest partnerships in this year’s competition. They have such great personalities which bounced off each other and this helped with every dance. She’ll be missed massively.”

It isn’t the first time the rumba has claimed victims.

Even way back in 2016, the curse was a thing, as @carolinenewell1 said: “See, curse of the Rumba strikes again. Totally fails as a dance on #Strictly”
On Strictly It Takes Two, Johannes opened up to Fleur about how their experience has been with a loving tribute to his celebrity partner.
Fleur said to the pair: “Johannes you said in the Clauditorium that you were beside yourself that Montell managed to get through that Rumba without any ligaments in her ankles.”
Johannes then replied: “I did! Listen, like I said to her, she treated this whole experience like a true pro. Montell really surprised me, in the most beautiful way. Like the way she tackled it Fleur, every time I walked into rehearsals I was like, this woman is not real. She is unreal.
“And that’s when I said, Strictly is very lucky to have had a contestant like her. And I mean that. I mean that baby.”
Montell, wiping away tears, spoke about the impact she hopes she has had on both younger and older women after watching her best moments montage, before Johannes continued: “I thought that was the best we’ve ever danced. I knew it from the first steps in the Rumba, when you just moved your hip I was like, those long legs are working wonders!
“She truly is my winner, Fleur. There is nothing like her. This is not my first rodeo, darling, I’ve had a go but I’ve never had somebody like you and I mean that. You did us proud. You really did.”
