It looks like Elden Ring 2 won’t be revealed at The Game Awards
If you’ve visited everywhere in The Lands Between and finally conquered the Land of Shadow, then you’ll be eager to find out what developer FromSoftware is planning to release next.
Indeed, all eyes are on December’s Game Awards, where fans will be hoping for some kind of surprise game reveal from the makers of Elden Ring.
Unfortunately, however, FromSoftware has good news and bad news about the future of and its plans for a sequel.
In comments picked up by in Japan, FromSoftware president Hidetaka Miyazaki said that there are currently no plans for Elden Ring 2.
However, it’s not all bad news, because Miyazaki hasn’t ruled out more Elden Ring in the future.
While this rules out a surprise Elden Ring 2 reveal for The Game Awards, FromSoftware may have something else planned.
Indeed, during the same interview, Miyazaki said the studio is working on various new titles covering multiple genres.
The company has a pretty decent track record at The Game Awards, showcasing Bloodborne gameplay back in 2014, and releasing a mysterious teaser for Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice in 2017.
Fans have also been treated to trailers for the likes of Elden Ring and Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon.
Between a potential FromSoftware reveal and the release of a new trailer, I’ll definitely be watching this year’s Game Awards on December 12 (December 13 in the UK).
For UK viewers, The Game Awards 2024 will be broadcast from 12.30-4am GMT on December 13.
This year’s ceremony has already courted controversy for including Elden Ring’s Shadow of the Erdtree expansion in the Game of the Year category.
Shadow of the Erdtree is up against Astro Bot, Balatro, Black Myth: Wukong, Final Fantasy 7: Rebirth and Metaphor: ReFantazio.
Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree is also up for Best Role-Playing Game, Best Art Direction and Best Game Direction.
Astro Bot and Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth have received the most nominations with seven, followed by Metaphor: ReFantazio with six, and Balatro with five.
Silent Hill 2 is also nominated in five different categories, although not for Game of the Year.
