Cirque du Soleil has announced details of its next touring production, which will stop in Vancouver in 2025. Here’s what you need to know:
Cirque du Soleil Crystal
When and where: June 4-8, 2025, various times at Vancouver’s Pacific Coliseum
What is Crystal: The 42nd touring production from Cirque du Soleil is its first one on ice. Since its creation in 2017, the show has toured to over 145 cities in 24 different countries
What’s the story: Created by Shana Carroll and Sebastien Soldevilla, Crystal is billed in the news release as “an exhilarating journey of self-discovery, full of whimsy and wonder. Feel your adrenalin soar as you dive into a world of playful imagination with the show’s protagonist, Crystal, as she learns to see things differently and become whom she was always destined to be herself.” The show uses visual projections on the surface of the ice rink to create a sense of magic and wonder. The show includes seven traditional circus acts, which have all been adapted to be performed on ice, including trapeze, Banquine, aerial straps, juggling and hand balancing.
Fun fact: The show includes real snow and the production team makes 300-plus snowballs each week.
