launched a barrage of drones at Ukraine overnight as at least one person was killed in a devastating strike on the western city of Ternopil.

According to the Ukrainian military, 110 drones were launched by ‘s forces, 52 of which were shot down as 50 of which were “lost”.

At the time of its statement, the military revealed that one drone remained in Ukrainian airspace, while six others were left heading towards Belarus and .

Also overnight, one person was killed, and several others were injured in the Ternopil drone attack that hit a residential building, causing a fire to break out and engulf several flats on the top floor.

The statement read: “Unfortunately, there are casualties: one person has died, there are seriously wounded.”

Nadal added that those who had their homes damaged in the attack were being put up in temporary accommodation.

However, the defence ministry released a separate statement confirming it shot down 15 Ukrainian drones overnight, according to Russian news agencies.

The governor of Kursk, a region on the border with that has been the centre of fierce fighting recently, said there was a possible drone attack, but it was neutralised.

Alexander Bogomaz, governor of the neighbouring Bryansk region, said Russian forces , resulting in no casualties or damage.
