A ‘race row’ has erupted online after Strictly Come Dancing’s latest dance-off ended in heartbreak for and her pro dancer partner Johannes Radebe.

Sunday’s Strictly quarter-final ended in an unexpected twist after and Jowita Przystal somehow avoided the dance-off altogether despite being bottom of the leaderboard on judges’ scores yet again, while Montell and Johannes were forced to fight for their survival for the second week in a row, this time against Love Island star and returning pro partner Aljaz Skorjanec.

Montell and Johannes had scored a respectable 32 for their rumba to I’m Here from The Colour Purple in the musicals themed quarter final, meanwhile reality TV star and his partner Jowita Przystal avoided the dance-off despite scoring just 26 on the live show for their waltz to Somewhere from West Side Story.

Unfortunately, Montell and Johannes ran out of road this time, with the judges electing to save Tasha instead.

After being eliminated, Montell said: “He (Johannes) has been amazing. Strictly has touched me in ways I never knew possible.

“I’m an Olympian and a Gladiator, but I have honestly struggled with confidence my whole life and being on the show, with the beautiful crew, the judges, the cast, has just been such an honour.”

But some outraged fans took to X to complain that the voting public had been ‘racist’ in failing to vote for Montell and instead saving dancers who performed worse and had lower scores.

@rhyslee_14 said: “The British public are just racist p****ks… Montell is great and deserves to be in that final!”

@thekevinarowan said: “Two things we learnt this evening about the great British public (though we actually already knew) that they are both stupid and irredeemably racist. Well done, everybody.”

But others fired back at the accusations and defended the public vote, decrying the idea of a ‘boycott’ over the result.

@just_me201967 said: “But JB is still in! Just accept others are more popular and have a bigger following than she does. Aside from the fact who really knew who she was… I didn’t! Bigger fan bases generate more votes, nothing to do with skin colour!”

@thesmokingbun said: “Every bloody year. ‘Boo hoo, the dancer I like is gone – the public are sexist/racist/ageist’ (delete where applicable). It’s a mockery/farce/I’m boycotting it! Jesus – its a flipping entertainment show-get a sense of perspective.”

And @rogerg71607910 said: “How come Jowita and Hamza won it [last year] then?”
