Teesside Airport has been given the title of Best UK Airport for Leisure Travel
A tiny UK has been crowned with the title of “best” for leisure travel with more flights being added for the passengers. Teesside Airport was given the award second year in a row at the British Travel Awards at a glittering ceremony.
Teesside Airport claimed the top spot in the public vote for the second consecutive year, surpassing East Midlands and Liverpool Airports. Over 1.2 million votes were cast across all travel and leisure categories by more than 400,000 participants.
The awards span the entire holiday industry, recognising excellence in travel companies, cruise lines, travel agents, hotel brands, airlines, and airports.
This year has been particularly successful for Teesside Airport, with highlights including the introduction of a new three-day weekly Ryanair holiday route to , the return of TUI flights to Dalaman and the highest summer passenger numbers in 15 years.
Ryanair is offering routes to Faro in Portugal, Majorca, Corfu and a year-round service to Alicante operating three times a week. Additionally, a new route to Malaga has been announced for 2025.

Holiday company TUI has also expanded its offerings from Teesside. This includes flights to the popular destination of Dalaman in Turkey, alongside its twice-weekly service to Majorca.
Tees Valley Mayor Ben Houchen said: “I’m delighted just how much impact our airport is making both here in Teesside, Darlington and Hartlepool and further afield.
“The industry is really standing up and taking notice of the huge strides, we’re taking here – and 2025 promises to be another amazing year with Malaga claiming its rightful place back on our departure boards.
“Winning is a habit – and it’s great for all the airport’s hard work to pay off.”
