The Repair Shop expert details ‘inspiration’ for new venture away from BBC series

star Dominic Chinea has lifted the lid on his latest venture away from the hit series.

The skilled metalwork maestro announced the release of , Machines A Visual History: 100 Machines and the Remarkable Stories Behind Each Invention.

Through illustration, the insightful book gives readers a clear visual exploration of 100 incredible machines, each with its place in history and the fascinating stories behind it.

Taking time out from filming season four of the highly anticipated restoration show, Dominic exclusively told Express.co.uk that “it’s not the machines” which inspired him to write the book.

Instead, he wants the book to “inspire people,” as the TV star shared, “Everybody has a dream, idea, or something they want to do that they wish they could do, whether it’s picking up a craft, learning a hobby, or inventing something.

“This book is proof that every single one of these machines has been invented, designed and made by somebody with a dream and they’ve gone through various different.

“It’s never straightforward, some have failed, some have succeeded, but everyone’s got there eventually.”

Dominic continued: “It [the book] was more that sentiment that if you’ve got a dream or an idea, you can do it, all these people have done it.

“There’s over 100 different machines invented by people, you can do it, and I hope it’s inspiring people,” the star concluded.

This is the craftsman’s second book, following his 2022 release of Tools: A Visual History: The Hardware that Built, Measured, and Repaired the World.

Dominic’s book connects the inventions of the past to the work and functions that continue to be part of everyday life.

The repairer also recounts how each invention was developed, his narrative accompanied by original detailed line drawings and archive advertisements.
