The Pembrokeshire Murders, a chilling crime drama that delves into the true story of serial killer John Cooper and his eventual capture, has left a lasting impression on ITV viewers since its debut three years ago.
The series tells the real-life tale of how Dyfed Powys Police apprehended Cooper decades after he committed four horrific murders.
When Detective Superintendent Steve Wilkins, portrayed by Luke Evans, is promoted in 2006, he reopens the cold murder cases of siblings Richard and Helen Thomas from 1985, as well as Peter and Gwenda Dixon from 1989.
Thanks to advancements in forensic technology, police find a DNA match with John Cooper, played by Keith Allen, who was about to be released from prison for a number of burglaries.
With this crucial initial evidence, it’s up to Wilkins and his team to hold Cooper accountable for his heinous crimes.
As the show is set to release on on Sunday, December 1, here’s everything you need to know about where the three-part series was filmed.

Where was The Pembrokeshire Murders filmed?
The Pembrokeshire Murders was filmed in its namesake location, Pembrokeshire, and across southwest Wales, spanning both the 1980s and 2000s.
The three-part series wrapped up filming in January 2020, barely days before Wales entered its first lockdown that March.
Aptly named after its filming site, the series came to life on location in Pembrokeshire, with most indoor scenes captured in a Cardiff studio.
Welsh locations such as Goodwick, Freshwater East, Fishguard, and portions of the coastal path shone on screen, aligning with areas the real-life Cooper frequented.
The production team didn’t use Cooper’s actual home but instead a similar setting in Trefin, North Pembrokeshire.

Gloucester Prison set the scene for Cooper’s incarceration, while Cardiff Crown Court substituted for Swansea’s legal backdrop where the trial occurred.
Welsh actor Luke Evans reflected on the experience, saying: “It’s actually my first time working on a project in Wales so for me, it’s very poignant, and also that it is a Welsh story.
“I got to visit some incredibly beautiful parts of Wales as well which was special.
“It was a joy to come to set and listen to all these beautiful Welsh accents every day. I’ve missed it very much.”
