Hartlepool is going under a major revamp

Hartlepool, known for its multiple attractions, including its marina, beach, and museums, is one of the cheapest places to live in the UK, with homes costing less than half the average
Now, the is getting a massive overhaul – and new pictures have revealed what the new attractions in town are expected to look like after the £6.8 million project is completed.
The Museum of Hartlepool and the Wingfield Castle paddle steamer are being worked on as part of a wider project named Tides of Change.
The work done will see the museum have a brand new entrance, upgraded exhibition areas and learning spaces. It will reopen in 2029.

Hartlepool has a proud maritime history.
The Wingfield Castle paddle steamer is a symbol of the town’s maritime legacy, and its restoration will allow it to be displayed on the water as a significant part of the Museum of Hartlepool for future generations.
Local councillor Pamela Hargreaves told local media: “I think it will really define that whole area and out the Museum of Hartlepool, which is a bit of a little-known attraction, in people’s mind.”
The mission for the waterfront project is “to breathe new life into the dockside museum site and transform it into a vibrant hub of culture and heritage.”

Wingfield Castle is also being restored
The project will focus on making the town’s cultural assets more accessible for everyone while targeting environmental concerns.
Transport in the area is also being upgraded.
Capacity at the Hartlepool train station is being improved while Teesside International Airport station is also being worked on.
A new Eaglescliffe Western Station Gateway train station is under construction and will be opened next year.
Hartlepool is one of the coutry’s cheapest seaside towns
