Drivers could boycott areas due to a simple issue
Millions of drivers could avoid travelling to certain areas if one crucial tool is unavailable, according to a leading expert.
Rick Wilmer, CEO of EV charging experts , has warned owners may actively dodge certain attractions if they
In a warning to businesses across the UK, Rick stressed EV owners would likely lean towards facilities which could cater for their vehicles.
It means companies who haven’t splashed out for costly charging stations could be left behind to the new vehicles.
According to recent data, there are or plug-in hybrid vehicles on UK roads.
A lack of charging stations may turn many people away
Speaking to Express.co.uk, Rick said: “So if you have five cinemas to choose from in your city and two of them have EV charging, you’re going to go to one of those two and the other three aren’t going to get your business.”
Polls have shown that concerns around running out of battery – so-called ‘range anxiety’ is still an issue among motorists.
New EV owners or those considering making the jump were most fearful of being stranded.

It suggests concerns about running out of battery are diminishing and could soon be a thing of the past.
But, Rick stressed adopting EV hubs in businesses was still crucial for firms to “drive their core business forward”.
Rick added: “Commercial charging is discretionary. No one has to do that to run their business. An apartment doesn’t have to put chargers in to get people to rent their apartments, a store doesn’t have to put chargers in the parking lot to get people to shop there.
“When you step back and think, why are they even doing this at all? Why are they spending their hard-earned money putting chargers around their buildings? It’s because they are realising it attracts the people they care about to come to their place.
“If you have chargers in a store, maybe people buy more, they stay longer, maybe more shoppers come. Maybe in an apartment you can charge more rent or you can increase the tenancy rate.”
EV charging experts at have previously warned EV drivers were deciding to “avoid” parts of mid-Wales due to a lack of plugs.
Neil Lewis, spokesperson for the group, previously claimed electric vehicle owners would often drive through England when travelling from south to north Wales.
This was simply because it was considered “safer” with more rapid charging points available for road users who may need to top-up.
