Gregg Wallace’s ‘Day In The Life’ revelations trend again amid BBC probe

Gregg Wallace has hit headlines this week after the MasterChef presenter .

Kirsty Wark, former host of Newsnight, is among 13 people who have accused the presenter of making inappropriate sexual comments, News reported. She was on MasterChef back in 2011 and has claimed that Wallace told “jokes of a sexualised nature” on two occasions during filming.

The news has meant the 60-year-old TV presenter’s name has been trending online, and many can’t help but remember ‘s infamous ‘Day In The Life’ article he did with The Telegraph last year.

The newspaper article saw Gregg open up about his typical Saturday, as he revealed he wakes up at 5am every morning. Gregg then revealed he reads for an hour, before having a coffee and checking his email.

Next, it was on to the gym, as he revealed the owners let him in early to have a swim and a sauna by himself.

He then ‘reviews his to-do-list’ while walking on a treadmill as he aims to do 50,000 steps a week.

Roll on to 10:30am and Gregg meets his PA Helen at the local Harvester for breakfast before getting back home for lunch at 12pm, with his wife Anna [Anne-Marie Sterpini] ‘having it on the table’ for him.

At 1:30pm, Gregg says he likes to spend time with his five-year-old son Sid. Who’s non-verbal autistic. He said: “He used to be in his own world. But he’s starting to seek company and show eye contact. We’ll potter in the garden and play with out two dogs.

“I’m a much better father now I’m older, although another child isn’t something that I would have chosen at my age. I was always very honest with Anna, but that’s what she wanted and I love her. I just requested two things – that we had help in the house (so her mum moved in), and secondly that we had at least one week a year when we holidayed just the two of us.”

Gregg’s afternoon involved playing a computer game by himself for two hours then cooking dinner for the family before going to bed at 8pm.

People were left baffled by many of the revelations at the time, as one person wrote: “A fry up at 10.30 and then lunch at 12? Odd.” While someone else added: “My mouth: hanging open. He doesn’t see himself AT ALL, does he.”

A third chimed in: “That was gold from top to bottom.” While a fourth added: “Absolutely hilarious… gets funnier each read!”

Someone recently tweeted: “I think it’s time to re-read the Gregg Wallace day-in-the-life-of.” While another added: “With Gregg Wallace trending, let’s re-read his Alan Partridge-esque Day In The Life type article.”

Talking about the probe, a statement from MasterChef’s production company Banijay UK to PA news agency says Wallace is “committed to fully cooperating throughout the process”.

Kirsty has said Wallace’s alleged jokes happened when crew and other contestants were present. She claims Wallace’s alleged remarks were “really, really in the wrong place”.

News said it had also been told of other allegations, including the presenter “talking openly about his sex life, taking his top off in front of a female worker saying he wanted to ‘give her a fashion show’, and telling a junior female colleague he was not wearing any boxer shorts under his jeans”.

The statement announcing the investigation said: “This week the received complaints from individuals in relation to historical allegations of misconduct while working with presenter Gregg Wallace on one of our shows. Whilst these complainants have not raised the allegations directly with our show producers or parent company Banijay UK, we feel that it is appropriate to conduct an immediate, external review to fully and impartially investigate. While this review is underway, Gregg Wallace will be stepping away from his role on MasterChef and is committed to fully cooperating throughout the process.

“Banijay UK’s duty of care to staff is always a priority and our expectations regarding behaviour are made clear to both cast and crew on all productions, with multiple ways of raising concerns, including anonymously, clearly promoted on set. Whilst these are historical allegations, incidences brought to our attention where these expectations are not met, are thoroughly investigated and addressed appropriately.”

The said it takes any issues that are raised with it “seriously” after it was announced Wallace will step away from his MasterChef role while complaints made to the corporation from individuals about historical allegations of misconduct are investigated.

A spokesperson said: “We take any issues that are raised with us seriously and we have robust processes in place to deal with them. We are always clear that any behaviour which falls below the standards expected by the will not be tolerated. Where an individual is contracted directly by an external production company we share any complaints or concerns with that company and we will always support them when addressing them.”

Wallace has presented MasterChef alongside John Torode since 2005, as well as its spin-offs Celebrity MasterChef and MasterChef: The Professionals.
