Congratulations are in order for Eric Murphy and Jasmin Lawrence!
The couple announced their engagement in a joint Instagram post Sunday, Dec. 1, and posted a video of the luxurious proposal, which occurred on Nov. 27.
“We’re engaged!! God truly blessed us with a love that feels like destiny. We couldn’t be more excited for this next chapter,” the caption read, with two red heart emoji.
Eric Murphy and Jasmin Lawrence are the eldest children of Eddie Murphy and Martin Lawrence, respectively. Eddie Murphy and Martin Lawrence starred together in the ’90s films “Boomerang” and “Life.”
The engagement video showed a dimly lit room illuminated with candles and a white rose-lined pathway leading to a massive red heart. In the clip, Eric Murphy got down on one knee to propose as Jasmin Lawrence laughed and put her hand over her mouth in shock.
The two shared several kisses before Jasmin Lawrence turned around to flash her dazzling ring to the camera and shouted, “I’m engaged!”
The caption concluded, “Special thank you to everyone who made this moment so beautiful!!”
The couple went Instagram official in June 2021 when Eric Murphy posted that he was “head over heels in LOVE.” Since then, they’ve each shared moments from their relationship online, from going to Hollywood events to vacationing together.
In November 2023, Eddie Murphy spoke to TODAY’s Al Roker about his son dating the daughter of his former co-star.
“Jasmin’s always at the house with Eric,” Murphy said at the time.
“I think they’ll go to Martin’s and then they’ll come to me, then Martin,” he added.
Martin Lawrence also opened up about his daughter’s relationship in a September interview with “E! News.”
“It’s beautiful,” the comedian told the outlet. “They both are beautiful young adults, and they get along so well.”
He added, “Whoever would’ve thought that my child and Eddie’s child would get together? It’s just what it is.”
In that same interview, Martin Lawrence added that Eddie Murphy did give him one note on their children’s relationship, specifically, their future wedding.
