Bette Midler reveals secret to successful 40-year marriage in candid confession

Bette Midler made a surprising statement about her 40-year marriage to Martin von Haselberg.

The actress, who turns 79 today (December 1), reflected on her lengthy union with the Argentinian-born artist with Entertainment Tonight earlier this year.

Discussing her latest film The Fabulous Four, Midler recalled her wedding and shared the secret to their successful relationship after a staggering four decades.

Letting out a smile, Biddler simply declared: “Separate bedrooms,” adding: “My husband snores.”

The couple have slept in different beds since the start of their relationship, which began just six weeks before they tied the knot.

During the interview, the Hocus Pocus star admitted how filming her latest movie brought back memories of her whirlwind wedding in Las Vegas.

Midler told the outlet that she didn’t fall in love with her wedding dress as she simply chose “the first thing on the rack” to walk down the aisle in.

“I think I wore a very slim silhouette for my own wedding – it was pale gray and it had beads on it. It was not my favorite,” she said. “I was married in haste, and I just grabbed the first thing on the rack and I went.”

Midler and von Haselberg initially met at a concert in Los Angeles, California, in 1981. However, a romance didn’t blossom until they reconnected two years later.

They went on to welcome a daughter named Sophie in 1986.

Last month, Midler made her feelings about the clear as she threatened to drink the toilet cleaner Drano if became president for the second time.

Midler, who is a staunch Democrat, was among several liberal celebrities dismayed by Trump’s landslide victory after devoting her time by publicly backing .

On her X account, the Beaches star posted a snap of a champagne bottle with a note fixed to it saying “Kamala wins” and a bottle of Drano next to it with the words “Trump wins” written on it.

After Trump was announced as the President-elect, Midler shared a lengthy statement on X, branding his mind as “a virtual vacuum”.

She added: “All the odds are on the man who is, intrinsically, the most devious and mediocre. The man who can most adeptly disperse the notion that his mind is a virtual vacuum… The Presidency tends, year by year, to go to such men.”

Shortly after, the Tony-winning actress deleted her X account.
