UK weather maps show huge wall of snow headed for Great Britain
At its worst, the snow will stretch across the whole of Great Britain
Parts of the UK have already seen some this winter, with temperatures dropping to below minus in mid-November and regions from Scotland to London .
After a similarly disruptive spell of weather brought by consecutive Bert and Conall, Brits might enjoy a brief milder and calmer period before a colossal 874-mile wall of snowfall descends across the country early next month.
On Tuesday, December 10, almost all of Scotland is set to be blanketed, with the wintry blitz extending all the way down to the bottom of Wales, according to new weather maps from WXCharts.
While most of Northern Ireland will instead see heavy downpours in the second week of December, the snow is also forecast to hit northwest England, with Greater Manchester and Cumbria among the counties in the icy firing line.

By Tuesday morning, the snow will have turned to rain in many places
The wall of snow will be accompanied by a drop in temperature to -10C in some areas
The snowfall, which is expected to fall at 12am on Tuesday, will then turn into rain across most of the UK, with parts of Scotland around Edinburgh and Northumberland getting up to 4mm of rain.
Downpours are also forecast in Wales and northern England, including for Manchester and Birmingham, with between 1.5 and 2mm set to fall across the regions.
Weather maps then show the snow pushing through to Yorkshire and the Humber and potentially into the East Midlands, with up to 1.5cm falling at 6am.
Unsurprisingly, the decisive return of winter will be accompanied by a mercury drop, according to WXCharts’ predictions, with parts of Scotland dropping below -10C and areas around London in the southeast getting their fair share of the chill with below-freezing temperatures.
