Police say the incident is being treated as a criminal matter
Two young children were taken to hospital Friday after an attempt to drive a vehicle in which they were passengers into the Fraser River in Delta.
The children — Delta police did not give their ages — had no injuries and were taken to hospital for observation.
The driver, a woman who was not named by police, is also in hospital. Police said they are treating the case as a criminal matter.
Police said it happened shortly after 9:30 a.m. in the 8200-block of River Road.
Before the vehicle entered the water, it got stuck in the foreshore of the river, according to police. Passersby called police and pulled the woman and children from the car.
Police say the area was busy with commuters at the time and they are asking anyone who may have witnessed the event to contact the Delta Police at 604-946-4411.
