Gogglebox star Kate Bottley has opened up on what it’s like to work directly with . It comes as the church-based sitcom is celebrating 30 years on air.
Kate, who was inspired by Dibley to become a vicar, is working on a campaign for the much-loved programme, where she recently unveiled a stained-glass art installation at the site where .
Now, Kate has reflected on her time working with Dawn back in 2020. She refelected as she exclusively told Express.co.uk: “I’ve met Dawn, we’ve worked together. We did a sketch back in 2020 or 2021.
“We did a little dance for the opening of this year and I had sequined trousers and a sequin dog collar on and she insisted ‘oh you must keep that, it looks great on you’. So I got a new outfit out of it as well!”
Speaking about Dawn’s character off-screen, the continued: “She’s great and she’s lovely. She’s just as nice in real life as she is on screen, she’s just such a lovely human.

“When we were filming in the Vicar of Dibley village [for the campaign], I sent her a text going ‘look where I am’, while stood outside the Vicarage.
“She replied going ‘get out of my pub you imposter!’ She was like ‘what are you doing there you imposter? You’re not the real Vicar of Dibley, I am’.”
As well as being a good friend to Kate, Dawn has also previously pioneered for other vicars. Kate explained: “When the women’s bishops campaign was going on a few years ago, when we weren’t allowed female bishops, she lent her support to that. Now, she’s not a person of faith but she knows what’s right and wrong.

A giant stained-glassed inspired artwork dedicated to The Vicar of Dibley has been unveiled at the site where the much-loved sitcom was originally filmed, to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the much-loved sitcom. The installation will temporarily be in place before it is gifted to a superfan of the popular series.
The 15ft by 6ft stained-glass effect installation mimics the effect of sunlight coming through a church window and includes a series of famous moments from the show, as voted for by the British public. Over 20 ‘Easter Eggs’ from Dibley’s 30-year history feature within the artwork, which will test the knowledge of even the keenest Dibley fans.
The Vicar of Dibley airs on U&GOLD on Sundays throughout November, with Christmas specials continuing the 30th celebrations into December.
