Chop and bury

Chop the banana peel into small pieces and bury them in the soil in the base of the plant. The banana will slowly decompose and release nutrients into the soil.

Blend and water

Alternatively, gardeners can blend up the banana peels with water to create a liquid fertiliser.

“This method is great for giving an immediate nutrient boost,” Elise said.

Compost

Banana peels can also be added to your compost bin which will result in compost that’s enriched. This can then be spread around the plants.
