To suggest that career has been underwhelming would be a colossal understatement; with the midfielder having barely made an impact since his arrival.

After Mount shone against Bodo/Glimt last night, fans flocked to social media claiming it was his best performance in a United shirt – yet this wasn’t exactly a high bar given it’s only been his ninth start in over a year.

Despite the slow start, remains confident in Mount repaying the hefty transfer fee sent to for his services last summer.

“The first thing is that he is working really hard, Amorim explained after the 3-2 win against the Norwegian champions.

“And then you have to understand the human also. He wants this really badly. That is the most important thing.”

When Mount was signed by United in July 2023 for a staggering £55million, the club was ecstatic, celebrating the transfer as a major achievement.

The Red Devils even handed him the iconic number seven shirt – worn by legends such as George Best, David Beckham and Cristiano Ronaldo during the club’s illustrious history.

However, Mount has had a rough time of things since landing at Old Trafford. Injuries have plagued his stay so far, in which he’s registered just one goal and no assists in 18 games.

Despite his early struggles, Amorim has issued a firm vote of confidence in the England international.
