Prince Harry and William slammed by Ricky Gervais for ‘unbelievable’ move at his gig

Ricky was appearing on the Stick to Football podcast when he claimed that at one of his shows, he discovered that neither Harry, his brother , Madonna, or Paul McCartney had paid to attend.

He told the podcast hosts: “Once at a gig, I think it was Hammersmith Apollo, at the back was , Madonna and Paul McCartney, not one of them paid. What money have they got between them that lot? Unbelievable.”

As well as discussing famous faces appearing at some of his shows, also went into detail about the early stages of his stand-up comedy career following the success of The Office, and dispelled one myth about his success.

Ahead of his royal revelation, Ricky, 63, said he wanted to quash the myth that he had been an overnight success. He said: “I think people think I was an overnight success, but I was 40, I was doing this for 40 years. It wasn’t like I’d never made a joke before.

“I had 40 years of being around funny people and learning so it all goes in its all practice and I think the best practice is real life for anything.”
