Letters to The Province: Everyone loves Harold Snepsts

I really enjoyed Steve Ewen’s article on Harold Snepsts. It brought back a lot of great memories. Best of all was him representing the Canucks at the All-Star game played here. I was at that game and the ovation for him was amazing. Everybody loved him.

Despite the critics, I love the CFL

I just have to comment on Larry Jordan’s letter regarding the CFL. I love the CFL. Yes, it’s not as big, nor does it have as many fans as the “other” league. But the players here want to be here. The quality of the product, on the field, is just as talented as the “other” league. They move around for a variety of reasons — pay, close to home, etc. At least they have several choices and are not just another “can of soup.” CFL forever.

Respect wildlife by leashing your dogs

I think we are missing the point with the bear who had to die because of an off-leash dog. It is not about an injured human because he did not leash his dog.

It is instinct for a bear to “re-engage” after being chased or attacked by a dog. Respecting wildlife by leashing our dogs is the least we can do after human destruction of habitat.

I have had many close encounters with bears over the years on the North Shore trails without conflict because my dog is always on a leash. Unleashed dogs are also a problem with other dogs and humans.

Every animal killed because of humans matters. Please leash your dogs.
