One of the properties to make Rightmove’s list this year is Wytham Abbey, a Grade I-listed manor house set within 23 acres of gardens and parkland just outside Oxford.
The stunning was once described by The Times as “one of England’s loveliest houses,” and it’s easy to see why. Stained glass windows, a jaw-dropping Georgian staircase, and luxurious finishes give this home the wow factor.
The family home includes 27 bedrooms, 18 , spans roughly 27,000 sq ft and is currently on the market with for an eye-watering £15million.
The grand property was built mainly of local limestone and dates back to c. 1485 – 1500. However, the property has been heavily altered over the years, with construction believed to have taken place between c.1500 and 1830. Some of the home’s most notable external features include gables, oriel windows and battlements as well as fine stained glass panels.

Wytham Abbey is in a secluded location but is just a few miles from the bustle of Oxford’s vibrant city centre. Wytham village, which has an 18th-century pub and a small local shop, has remained well-preserved with buckets of charm and character. The pretty and historic Wytham Woods are located nearby and are rich in flora and fauna. The woods are protected as a Site of Special Scientific Interest and are known for being one of the most researched pieces of woodland globally.
