Christian Horner thought Max Verstappen would ‘go missing’ in Las Vegas
has joked that he was expecting to ‘go missing’ after wrapping up his fourth straight Drivers’ Championship title in Las Vegas.
The Dutchman secured the honours yet again by finishing ahead of despite not getting on the podium in Sin City. took the chequered flag, with and rounding out the top three.
Speaking on Sky Sports after sprint qualifying at the Qatar Grand Prix, Horner joked that he thought Verstappen would celebrate too heavily in Las Vegas and not turn up at the Lusail International Circuit.
“Winning a title in Vegas is a good and a bad thing,” said the team principal. “I half expected him to go missing like a certain movie, but he turned up here in Qatar in time.
“He rightly celebrated with some of the guys and girls from the team. The rest of us were on flights back to Europe or straight here. We’re saving it to celebrate with everybody at the end of the year.
“[I had] a glass of wine at 40,000 feet on the way home and back in the office the next morning. No tigers turned up and Mike Tyson seems happy, so everything is good.”
