While the late monarch wore the tiara during her 70-year reign, she more frequently donned the necklace and detachable brooches. The equity stones were originally set into the sparkling headpiece but Elizabeth felt she could get more wear out of them.

Diamond experts at Steven Stone Jewellers closely examined the brooches. They uncovered that the remarkable jewels reminded her of her wedding to the late Prince Phillip and personal touch she was able to contribute to the breathtaking design.

They said that it was: “Made by Cartier and crafted from platinum, the floral design tiara featured three detachable brooches, depicting gorgeous roses.
“Though the diamond necklace remains in its original condition, the tiara was dismantled to make another headpiece.”
Before adding: “The necklace has been worn by the Princess of Wales on several occasions – she first wore the piece in February 2014 for an evening gala at London’s National Portrait Gallery.”

The expert continued: “Queen Elizabeth II kept the detachable brooches and wore them frequently through her lengthy reign – either as a pair or individually.”
“From looking at the pair of brooches together, the diamonds and level of detail are incredible.”
The experts said it is worth between £80,000 to £100,000. While the tiara that Princess Kate wore is at least around the price point of £1.5 million.
The necklace was passed down to Queen Camilla following the late monarch’s death and since then she has worn it many times.
The five-strand necklace is around 250 to 300 carats, with the main stone in the necklace being five carats alone.
It is worth £8.2 million and, without fail, makes everyone’s jaws drop, making it one of the most expensive pieces of jewelry in the royal family’s collection.
