This came around a year after the couple relocated to California and stepped back from their roles as senior working royals.
Meghan claimed in the tell-all chat with Oprah that after joining the royals, her passport was taken from her and was not given back until she was leaving for the .

She said during the interview: “You couldn’t just go. You couldn’t. I mean, you have to understand, as well, when I joined that family, that was the last time, until we came here, that I saw my passport, my driver’s licence, my keys.
“All that gets turned over. I didn’t see any of that anymore.”
According to , royal sources claimed her passport was kept secure to make sure it did not fall into the wrong hands. But, it would still have been used by her for her holidays.

The publication added that the former Suits star would have had to display her passport in the 13 countries she visited as a tourist during the period she was a member of the Royal Family.
The opulent trips she took after she started dating included visits to New York, Ibiza, Italy and Botswana.
The pair also went on three official royal tours, visiting Morocco, South Africa and Australia, New Zealand, Tonga and Fiji.
