Edinburgh hit by heavy weather / UK weather map
Britain has only just seen the back of Storm Bert, but the latest weather radar is predicting even more torrential rain to blast large areas of the country in the days that follow the current storm, Conall.
From December 5 through to December 9, several thick bands of rain will arrive on UK shores, according to WX Charts.
The south-east, east coast, north-east and north-west, as well as Wales and eastern Scotland will bear the brunt of weather on December 5.
The Scottish Highlands may also see heavy snowfall, while Northern Ireland and the south-west of England should escape much of the weather.
The UK is in for torrential rain on 9 December too
The Scottish Highlands may see snow while large areas of the rest of the UK will see downpours
However, the next two days will see western areas of the UK take the majority of the downpours.
On both December 6 and December 7, the west coast of Britain will see heavy rain, as will Northern Ireland. Meanwhile the snowfall in the Scottish Highlands is predicted to continue. London and the south-east, however, should remain largely dry during this period.
December 9 will see another thick band of rain come in from the north-west too, drenching most of the country.
Meanwhile, Storm Conall is wreaking havoc in southern areas of England this morning. From the Essex coast, all the way along the south coast up to Dorset, the has a yellow weather warning in place.
The storm was named by Dutch weather service KNMI, and is expected to blow through southern areas of the UK during Wednesday and Thursday.
Chief Meteorologist, Steve Willington, said: “Much of the warning area will see 15-20 mm of rain, with 30-40 mm in some areas. There is a lower chance of 50 mm of rain in a few places, more likely for areas such as the Isle of Wight, Sussex and Kent, before rain eases and clears by early afternoon. Given the recent wet weather, some disruption to travel and infrastructure could be possible.
“Along with the rain, things will turn colder from tomorrow for all, with frost and some freezing fog possible.”
