poked fun at ‘s recent skirmish with an fan after recording an upcoming episode of The Overlap.

Gervais joined legends Keane and , as well as fellow football big shots , Jill Scott and for a one-off appearance ahead of a busy festive fixture schedule.

The episode was on Wednesday ahead of its release on Thursday, with Carragher to The Overlap’s social media post by writing: “Bloody loves football @rickygervais [laughing emoji].”

Notorious football hard man Keane got into an altercation with an Ipswich fan after United’s 1-1 draw at Portman Road on Sunday.

The former Republic of Ireland international was seemingly being given a tough time over his spell in charge of the Tractor Boys between 2009 and 2011. Keane put his microphone down, walked away from the Sky Sports pitchside table and confronted the supporter, telling him: “I’ll wait for you in the car park and we can discuss it.”

Security staff at Portman Road intervened to take the fan away, with Sky Sports opening an investigation into the incident, which will include asking Keane’s fellow pundits what they saw unfold.

Neil Finbow is the man claiming to be on the other end of Keane’s confrontation, writing on social media: “New claim to fame – just been offered out into the carpark by after a few choice words. Even Jamie Redknapp had to come over to get him away – just ya average Sunday evening out.”

He also wrote: “I was reminding him that he set us back five years and ruined our football club. I also mentioned how he wasn’t fit to step foot anywhere near our ground.

“Oh, and I mentioned about him walking out on a World Cup and breaking [Alf-Inge] Haaland’s leg and putting it in his autobiography. I hate the bloke, and that’s been boiling up since he got sacked all those years ago.”

Keane tends to bring out a funnier side on The Overlap, and he caused a stir last week with a towards Jill Scott, who said she had been ‘smashed’ in a charity game against former striker Marlon Harewood, which made Neville spit his water out and prompted Wright to shout: “You can’t say that!”
