A man who has spent the past three years disaster-proofing his home has shared a of his efforts that has gone viral on .
Sam, whose account is aptly named @SamBeReady, is confident he is adequately prepapred for any Doomsday scenario, having stocked up on numerous food and defence items. “I have acquired quite a few things,” he said in a clip viewed more than three million times.
His footage revealed shelves packed with non-perishable goods, as he explained: “I’ve been getting ready for natural disasters, economic disasters and political disasters.” Sam He also showed his stockpile of short-term foods for use over two to three months – and freezer foods which he says are fine for a couple of years.
Sam has even noted the use-by dates of each frozen item on his appliances. Continuing the tour of his basement, he showcased his family of six’s defence section, filled with masks, tools and medication to counteract the effects of radiation.
“We’ve stocked up on home defence, family defence and self defence,” he stated. “We have a lot of things that people don’t think about – it certainly doesn’t hurt to be ready for everything.”
Sam went on to point out his water supply, treated and stored in several substantial containers. “You never know when your water might get contaminated,” he admitted, advising that “even if you’re using well water, something could spill on the ground and contaminate it.”
Returning to his food supply, a further area of Sam’s space appeared filled from floor to ceiling “meal kit” containers, each of which provide a two-week nutritional lifeline in case of extreme emergency.
Tackling potential power outages, he then revealed an arsenal of solar generators, solar panels and backup batteries, brefore recording footage of a vast amount of toilet paper and other essentials, including “go bags” and first aid kits, ready for a rapid evacuation if required. “This is definitely something you should be doing,” he exhorted.

“During the apocalypse finding this house will be awesome,” one wrote in reply. Another commented: “I love prepping. I’m nowhere close to this ,but one thing that scares me living on the coast is what if it gets washed away in a tsunami.” A third praised: “That’s a lot of money. well spent.”
However, one of Sam’s more cynical followers was left pondering the potential wastage “if nothing happened”. suggesting his time Sam duly hit back: “Do you tell your car and home insurance broker the same thing? But you still pay that bill every month?”
