Lauren Laverne made a triumphant return to on Tuesday evening, following successful cancer treatment. The presenter was back on the sofa alongside Alex Jones, just days after announcing she had been given the “all clear”.
Alex welcomed Lauren back, saying: “I’m delighted to say that Lauren is back by my side. Miss Lauren, we have missed you so much. You look brilliant, how are you feeling?”
Lauren responded: “I feel great you know, I’m really, really pleased to be back. It’s lovely to be back on the iconic sofa instead of watching at home on mine and largely I feel good because I’ve had so many wonderful messages from viewers.”
She added: “I want to say a massive thank you to everyone who’s been in touch especially to people who’ve been through cancer treatment themselves. It’s been really encouraging and so touching.”

Lauren, who also hosts Radio 6 Music’s breakfast show and Radio 4’s Desert Island Discs, had revealed her cancer diagnosis in August, stating that it had been caught early and she expected to make a full recovery. On Sunday, she shared the news that she had been given the “all clear” after treatment, saying the experience had taught her “so much about what really matters” in life.
The 46-year-old presenter announced on that she would return to work on The One Show on Tuesday after taking time off to recover. She expressed her newfound belief that “more than ever that the small things in life – the connections we make and care we take with each other – are the big things really”, reports .
Meanwhile, Robbie Williams also appeared as a guest on The One Show on Tuesday night to discuss his upcoming semi-biographical film, Better Man.
The former Take That member was discussing the real-life events that inspired the film, which sees Robbie portrayed by a CGI chimpanzee.
