Make a great growing medium by combining two parts of potting soil, one part perlite and one part of coconut coir.

When planting, take a lot at the pot as well as peace lilies like to be compressed into containers, but make sure no roots are popping out.

Madison added: “Nutrients are essential components in plant health, particularly if you want to encourage your plants to flower.

“Recently purchased peace lilies won’t require feeding, but if they’ve been in the same pot for a while and have used up all the available nutrients, fertiliser or repotting is the only way to perk them up again.”

The expert advised using a balanced houseplant fertiliser and feeding them at least once every two months.

For those who find more green flowers appearing, reduce the feeding to every three months, or reduce the strength of the plant food by half.

This may not help with the current season, but there should be an improvement by the following season.

Weak flowers are also a sign there may be a nutrient deficiency, according to the expert.

If the peace lily flowers are not well-formed, switch to a fertiliser which is high in phosphorus.

The plant pro noted: “This nutrient encourages flowering and fruiting in plants and should spur flowering in your peace lily too.”

Other tips to help boost its flowering abilities include placing the houseplant in a warm environment to mimic its natural habitat.

Temperatures should remain between 18C and 29C at all times as they don’t do well in drafts or near air condition units.
