I’m A Celeb star supported by fans as house floods in horror incident

TV personality has shared the devastating impact Storm Bert had on her Wiltshire home, which she shares with her husband, former Conservative MP Neil Hamilton.

The former contestant, who appeared on the show in 2002, revealed that her house was flooded during this weekend’s bout of severe weather.

Christine described the ordeal to the PA news agency, saying: “We were literally bailing out water constantly for three hours, just to try and keep the level down to what it was.

“We had two inches of water in the back kitchen, and then if we stopped bailing for two seconds, the water would climb even further.”

Christine explained that friends tried to deliver a pump to help remove the water, but the flooding made it “impossible” to reach their property.

The TV personality shared a glimpse of the chaos with her followers on social media.

In the clip she posted, Neil is seen using a dustpan to bail water out of the kitchen, while Christine narrates: “Here it is gushing through the back door… I’ve stopped for a moment we’re now losing the battle… but we can’t do this all night.”

Christine captioned the video: “Nothing compared to others but we’ve got a little problem – bailing out with dustpans we are just managing to keep abreast of the #incoming rain water!

“Neighbours with pumps etc can’t get through #Floods on the roads to left & right! #Marooned #KeepCalmAndCarryOn.”

Despite the ordeal, Christine expressed gratitude for their situation, noting that it could have been far worse. “We’ve been one of the lucky ones, well, unlucky in a way,” she said.

“The problem with us was we’ve been here 20 years, and we’ve never had ever, ever had flooding before. We’ve had so much rain over the last weeks and months that the ground is waterlogged, and when Bert arrived, it just couldn’t cope.

“The water just came sort of rushing in from the ground. We’re going to have to move some furniture and to stop it rotting but thankfully everything is drying out.”

Storm Bert caused widespread devastation across the UK, with hundreds of homes submerged and roads transformed into rivers.

Winds of over 80mph were also recorded in many areas.
