star Damon Heta has asked for the to be made again after discovering he will face either Connor Scutt or Ben Robb in his opening match. The Australian is friends with both players and would prefer to avoid going up against either of them early in the tournament.
Heta reached the fourth round of the World Championship for the first time last year before being knocked out by Scott Williams.
And the world No. 9 will be aiming to go even further when the tournament gets underway at Alexandra Palace next month.
The , which means Heta will only need to win five matches to reach the final.
But the 37-year-old has pointed to the fact he practises with Scutt and considers Robb to be family as reasons why he shouldn’t have to play them.
“Can we do the draw again please?” Heta wrote on on Monday. And after being told by one fan not to worry, he added: “It ain’t about being worried. It’s more the fact I’ve for a lot of time for Connor & we practice together & Ben is literally family.”

When he was told by another darts follower that he was scared of losing, he sarcastically responded: “Yeah, that’s the reason.”
And he then took exception when a fan suggested there were no friends or family in darts as he replied: “These type of posts sum up how little people know about me.
“I can still not want to play friends & family & avoid them early rounds without it meaning I’m not going to go up there & try & smash them.”

Heta has been playing darts since 2007 and moved to England to pursue the sport as a career in 2019. He earned his card in 2020 and won the 2022 World Cup of Darts alongside Simon Whitlock.
And reflecting on his darts journey last week, he penned: “Landed in England five years ago today to get myself ready for my debut worlds and Q-School.
“Moved to a country we had never been to with only a suitcase each, nowhere to live & the only person we knew was Kyle [Anderson]. It’s crazy to think I play darts for a living!”
and are currently the runaway favourites to win the World Championship. The duo met in the final last season when Littler was only 16, with 7-4.
