Eleven people are facing a slew of charges after a three-year investigation into a Metro Vancouver drug trafficking ring.
Coquitlam RCMP launched the investigation, dubbed Project E-Nevermind, in 2021 and targeted known drug traffickers operating in the Tri-Cities.
Police also seized two vehicles, two replica handguns and $145,000 in cash.
Nearly two years after the seizure, 64 drug charges have been laid against 11 people from Burnaby, Coquitlam, New Westminster, Port Coquitlam, Surrey and Vancouver, said RCMP on Tuesday.
They are: Richard McLaughlin, 28; Shayanne McGregor, 29; John Summer, 37; Jeremy Pride, 48; Barry Profaizer, 54; Christos Katsiamitas, 22; Nicky Sharma, 44; Hyun Cho, 22; Denise Sampson, 42; Liam Reilly, 26; and Joenna Saunders, 33.
“The charges laid as a result of Project E-Nevermind should be sending a strong message to those involved in the drug trade that their business is not welcome in our communities,” said Coquitlam RCMP Supt. Darren Carr in a statement.
Illicit cannabis, submachine-guns seized from West Van home: Surrey RCMP
Surrey RCMP say it has seized more than 300 kilograms of illicit cannabis from a West Vancouver home as part of an investigation into an illegal cannabis distribution network.
Mounties initially responded to a report that cannabis was being distributed from a shipping business in north Surrey in September. Four large boxes of cannabis were seized.
Later that month, on Sept. 29, police intercepted a second shipment at the same location and seized 77 kg of vacuum-sealed cannabis.
On Oct. 10, police, including members of Surrey RCMP’s gang enforcement team, searched a home in the 300-block Stevens Drive in West Vancouver.
They seized 313 kg of dried cannabis in various stages of packaging, more than a thousand chocolate psilocybin bars, four kg of psilocybin, three shotguns, three submachine-guns, ammunition and $145,000 in cash.
A 29-year-old man was arrested in the home. The investigation continues.
Cannabis purchased in the black market is not tested or quality controlled and may contain contaminants, warned Surrey RCMP.
