Asda is giving customers a winter meal for just £1 across 205 of its UK stores.

has brought back its popular ‘winter warmer’ meal deal for this winter to help support vulnerable customers during the colder months.

From now until the end of February, customers aged 60 and over can enjoy tomato, chicken or vegetable soup, a roll and unlimited tea and coffees for a mere £1 in any of Asda’s 205 cafes.

More than 60,000 meals have already been served to pensioners this month, which Asda says shows how “vital” the deal is across this age group.

The £1 offer is available all day, every day, until February 28, 2025, and will run alongside the supermarket’s ‘Kids eat for £1’ deal. It means that grandparents can bring along their grandchildren and eat in Asda’s cafes for as little as £4 (two adults, two children).

Ian McEvans, Asda’s Commercial Vice President Fresh and Frozen said: “We know winter is set to be incredibly hard for thousands of pensioners as they continue to worry about how to keep themselves warm in the face of rising living costs and on a fixed income.

“We’ve already served 60,000 meals to the over 60’s in the first two weeks, and since its launch 1.2 million meals have been sold showing the vital need for this initiative. By bringing Winter Warmers back for 2024 and extending it until February we hope it will prove just as impactful across the winter months for those who need it most.”

Asda’s Community and Customer Champions are also inviting local over 60’s groups and individuals to come along to their store Chatty Café to use the £1 Winter Warmer meal as an opportunity to come and chat to others.

Don’t miss… [REPORT] [WARNING]

It comes after Asda’s new Christmas Community Report found millions of older people lack human interaction and conversations during the festive period, with one in 10 not sure they will speak to anyone between December 15 and January 1.

Additionally, selected Asda stores are running a ‘Community Cuppa’ campaign in the cafes by creating space for community groups who may otherwise struggle to meet due to high rental or energy costs.

Spaces will be available on weekdays in November and December from 2pm to 6pm and all community group members who visit will receive unlimited free tea or coffee.
